The short version: this site collects as little as possible. You can look at everything without leaving anything behind. Only if you send in a photo yourself, or agree to the visitor counter, is anything kept.
When you fill in the form we keep: the photo itself, the location description you type, and if you fill them in your name and email address. The time and the IP address of the submission are stored as well, so we can stop abuse.
We use your name to credit you beside the photo, exactly as you give it. We use your email address only to tell you the photo is on the map. There is no newsletter and we give your address to nobody.
Photos we do not use are deleted. Photos we publish stay, with your name beside them, until you ask us to take them down.
We would like to know how many people visit and which pages they read. For that we use Google Analytics, but only if you agree to it. Say no and no measuring script is loaded at all and no cookies reach your device.
Say yes and Google places cookies that recognise you as the same visitor during your visit and on a later one. Your IP address is shortened before it is stored. Google also processes this data outside the European Union.
Without your consent there are no cookies on this site. Your choice itself we remember in your own browser storage, so we do not have to ask again every visit. That choice never leaves your device.
If you agree to the counter, the Google Analytics cookies are added (_ga and _ga_ followed by a code). They expire after two years.
No advertising networks, no social media buttons, no selling of data, no profiling. The background map comes from OpenStreetMap and the photos from Wikimedia Commons; those parties do see that your browser fetches an image.
You may ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or have it deleted. Send a message and we will sort it out. You may also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
